Here’s the theme for the talk in a nutshell:
The Agency space is more competitive than ever (there are c. 20,000 in the UK alone) and everyone is trying to attract the best talent they can.
Agencies don’t just compete with other agencies, they are competing with clients who are hoovering up staff left, right and centre: witness the BBC in Salford, Moneysupermarket in Manchester and Skybet and (soon) Channel 4 in Leeds, to name just four.
That’s not to say these businesses aren’t great catalysts for the growth of digital and creative in the respective cities (and Leeds agencies have embraced the Channel 4 move via All In. Leeds) but they are big drains on the agency digital talent pool that’s already imho stretched.
So how should you and your agency successfully find and develop (and hold on to!) the best talent you can? We hope to suggest some useful approaches.
